At Wallenius Wilhelmsen, we handle some of the world’s leading vehicles and machinery. We’re currently seeking a Yard Person (Wharf) to join our yard operations team in a hands‑on, physically active role supporting vehicle and machinery movements, inspections, and preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct wharf and yard inspections on customer RoRo equipment

• Eye for detail in relation to paintwork and finish and condition of customer RoRo units 

• Washing trucks and agricultural equipment using high‑pressure wash equipment and cleaning products

• Coordinating incoming and outgoing machinery placement and monitoring yard status 

• Operating large vehicles and machinery within the yard, or demonstrating the aptitude to be trained

• Assisting paint shop staff with vehicle yard slotting and rotation of units

• Retrieving scheduled maintenance units from the yard to the paint shop and returning them upon completion

• Supporting paint shop staff with unit preservation requirements

• Assisting with container unpacking and cargo preparation

• Preparing vehicles and machinery for dispatch, including detailing, shrink‑wrapping kits, and stock checks

• Performing basic cosmetic repairs, paint touch‑ups, and routine checks

• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment

• Following all safety procedures, SOPs, and company policies at all times

About You

• Yard/Wharf Inspection skills

• Enjoy hands‑on, physical work in an outdoor operational environment

• Have a strong eye for detail and take pride in quality workmanship

• Are reliable, safety‑focused, and a strong team player

• Comfortable working around vehicles, machinery, and equipment

• Willing to learn and operate large vehicles and equipment

• Able to follow instructions, procedures, and documentation accurately

Qualifications & Requirements

• LF High Risk Work Licence – mandatory

• Heavy vehicle driver’s licence – preferred

• Ability to obtain and maintain an MSIC pass for wharf access

• Previous experience in yard, wharf, vehicle handling, or similar operational roles is advantageous
