Task & Responsibilities

Responsibility:

Maintains, tests and repairs petrol engines and the mechanical parts of lightweight motor vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes. Registration or licensing may be required.

Duties:

• Diagnosing Issues: Identifying mechanical problems through inspections and diagnostic tests to determine the necessary repairs.
• Performing Repairs: Carrying out repairs on various vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Routine Maintenance: Conducting regular maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks to ensure vehicles operate efficiently.
• Replacing Parts: Installing new parts and components as needed, including belts, hoses, batteries, and filters.
• Testing Vehicles: Performing road tests to assess the performance of vehicles after repairs or maintenance to ensure they are functioning correctly.
• Keeping Records: Maintaining detailed records of repairs, services performed, and parts used for each vehicle.
• Customer Communication: Explaining vehicle issues and repair options to customers, providing estimates, and advising on maintenance schedules.
• Staying Updated: Keeping abreast of the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques through ongoing training and education.
