Task & responsibilities

Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by removing imperfections, dents, rust, and rough areas using appropriate preparation techniques.

Sand vehicle panels and components manually and with power tools to achieve smooth and even surfaces ready for painting.

Mask and protect non-painted areas of vehicles using masking tape, paper, plastic sheeting, and other protective materials.

Accurately identify, mix, and match paint colours to manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.

Apply primers, sealers, base coats, and clear coats using spray-painting equipment while maintaining high-quality finish standards.

Perform sanding and surface preparation between paint coats to ensure optimal adhesion and a flawless finish.

Carry out paint touch-ups, refinishing work, and corrective painting to restore vehicles to original condition.

Remove masking materials upon completion of painting and undertake final detailing, polishing, and buffing of painted surfaces.

Apply custom graphics, signage, decals, and artwork to vehicles as required.

Treat vehicles with rust-prevention and corrosion-protection products to enhance the durability and longevity of painted surfaces.

Inspect completed paintwork to ensure colour consistency, finish quality, and compliance with workplace and industry standards.

Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including the safe handling and storage of paints, chemicals, and spray-painting equipment. 

Qualification & experience

Formal qualifications in relevant field 

Minimum 1 to 3 experience required 

Excellent communication skills
