Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and truck components using diagnostic computers, testing equipment and manufacturer technical information.

·  Dismantle and remove diesel engines, gearboxes, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other mechanical assemblies to inspect components for wear, damage and defects.

·  Repair and replace faulty or worn mechanical parts in trucks and heavy vehicles, following manufacturer specifications and service manuals.

·  Overhaul, rebuild and reassemble diesel engines, gearboxes and associated components as part of the workshop’s heavy vehicle repair services.

·  Perform scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance on customers’ trucks and commercial fleets, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks and engine tuning.

·  Inspect, service and repair truck and trailer braking systems, suspension, wheel bearings, axles and associated mechanical components.

·  Inspect steering and suspension components, including kingpins, bearings and joints, and carry out wheel alignment adjustments using workshop alignment equipment.

·  Test and adjust repaired engines, transmissions and other mechanical systems to confirm correct performance, safe operation and compliance with applicable roadworthiness requirements.

·  Inspect trucks and trailers to identify mechanical defects and document repairs required to achieve roadworthiness.

·  Attend breakdowns and undertake mobile servicing, diagnosing faults and completing appropriate mechanical repairs at customer sites or roadside locations.

·  Maintain accurate service and repair records, including diagnostic findings, work completed and parts replaced.

·  Follow workplace health and safety procedures, environmental requirements and safe practices for lifting heavy components, operating equipment and handling oils and waste materials.

Skills & Qualifications:

Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent

Minimum of 1-3 years’ relevant experience.

Solid understanding of heavy vehicle systems, including diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and braking systems

Confidence in using diagnostic computers and interpreting fault codes

Ability to work unsupervised, with strong time management and attention to detail

A team player attitude with commitment to workshop safety standards
