The successful applicant will be responsible for servicing, inspecting, diagnosing and repairing a range of vehicles, with a particular focus on diesel-powered trucks and commercial vehicles. Task & responsibilities

Task & Responsibilities
  • Perform general servicing, maintenance, and repairs across a range of vehicles in line with industry standards.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using advanced computer diagnostic tools and established testing procedures.
  • Conduct inspections and provide accurate evidence-based assessments of vehicle conditions.
  • Disassemble engine units, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components to inspect and assess condition.
  • Replace or repair worn or defective components, such as brake pads, wheel bearings, and other essential components, and reassemble systems using service manuals and technical diagrams as needed.
  • Test, adjust, and calibrate repaired systems and components to ensure optimal performance and compliance with manufacturer standards.
  • Carry out regular servicing, including oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups to ensure smooth operation and compliance with environmental standards.
  • Inspect vehicles to determine roadworthiness and, if licensed, issue certificates or report required rectifications.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the workplace.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace.

Qualification & experience

Qualification & Experience
  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or a similar relevant qualification, or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum 1 years of hands on experience in diesel vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with modern mechanical tools and computer-based diagnostic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality service.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to understand instructions and clearly communicate technical information.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability and a consistent approach to meeting workplace expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a workshop team.
