Task & responsibilities

• Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle components using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures
• Repair and replace defective engine components, transmissions, suspension systems, steering mechanisms, and braking systems
• Carry out scheduled servicing and maintenance including oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and filter replacements
• Inspect vehicles and test mechanical systems to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards
• Dismantle and reassemble vehicle engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components
• Perform repairs on fuel systems, ignition systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems
• Conduct wheel alignments, tyre rotations, and suspension adjustments where required
• Use diagnostic tools and workshop equipment safely and efficiently to identify and rectify faults
• Test drive vehicles after repairs to ensure mechanical issues have been resolved effectively
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, and parts used
• Ensure all repair and maintenance work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workplace safety standards
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
• Assist in ordering, checking, and managing workshop parts and inventory when required
• Work collaboratively with other workshop staff to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction

Qualification & experience

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic in an automotive workshop environment
• Relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent preferred
• Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repair techniques, and mechanical systems
• Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment and workshop tools
• Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
