About the Role

The successful applicant will perform duties consistent with the occupation of Motor Mechanic (General) and will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and testing of motor vehicle mechanical systems and components.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Detect and diagnose faults in engines and components using diagnostic instruments and equipment.
• Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components, and inspect parts for wear, damage, or defects.
• Repair and replace worn and defective components, including engines, gearboxes, clutches, brakes, suspension systems, steering systems, and electrical components.
• Reassemble engines and mechanical components and test their performance after repair.
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
• Carry out oil changes, lubrication, tuning, and adjustment of engines and associated systems.
• Test and adjust mechanical parts following repairs to ensure proper performance and compliance with safety standards.
• Use specialised diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Maintain accurate service records, repair reports, and parts usage documentation.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements and industry standards.

Essential Requirements

• Relevant qualification equivalent to an Australian Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or a closely related field.
• Minimum of two years of relevant post-qualification work experience as a Motor Mechanic.
• Proven ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain motor vehicle mechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of engine management systems, braking systems, suspension, steering, and transmission systems.
• Ability to use modern diagnostic and testing equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and time-management skills.
