We are a well-established Engineering Company located in Brisbane that specialises in precision CNC machining, mechanical sub assembly & Aerostructure manufacturing. We invest heavily in modern equipment, and work in a clean environment, to make some of the most challenging and complex components on the market today. We work nearly exclusively with Digital Product, using modern manufacturing systems, processes, and CAD models to manufacture and inspect parts.
We work with partners like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrup Grumman, Parker Aerospace, and many others to manufacture parts for the F-35 Lightning II, MQ-28 Ghost Bat, and many other programs.
We have several positions available to support those programs in the Quality department.
While we would love somebody with previous experience with aerospace quality systems, and strong knowledge in model-based PC-DMIS CAD++ programming of CMM machines, we are also looking for experienced CNC machinists who are willing to gain new skills in a new direction.
We can provide training to the right candidates in Quality Systems, CMM programming, Root Cause Analysis, and other disciplines to grow your skills and support us in this position.

Responsibilities and duties will include:
Ensure all new products are processed through a quality planning process, to confirm Ferra’s manufacturing processes and their capability;
Ensure that all new processes are documented though the first article inspection process where applicable;
Ensure the maintenance of quality records are in accordance with contractual and/or industry requirements;
Maintain registers for actioning non-conformances and monitoring to identify continuous improvement opportunities;
Ensure that department practices are aligned with Ferra’s Quality Policy and all products are processed in accordance with the appropriate industry standards;
Creation of quality inspection plans and CMM programs for the validation of conformance to customer specifications;
Ensure that a calibration process is in place and effectively rolled out and maintained;
Ensure that a recall system is in place and is utilised to prevent out of calibration measurements, inspection and test equipment from being used for acceptance purposes;
The ideal candidate will have:
Good understanding of manufacturing processes
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to time manage
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Understanding of 3D models & extraction of key measurement features
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
Minimum 3 years in CNC Machining role
Trade qualification or higher in Engineering or Manufacturing
Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office
Use of measuring equipment including Vernier’s, Micrometers etc.
Desirable
2 years' experience in a Quality Assurance role
Operating and programming CMM’s using PC-DMIS software
Reading and understanding technical engineering drawings & specifications
GD&T principles and application in an inspection environment
Working within an AS9100 and ISO9001 quality management system
AS9102 First Article reporting
