The Role

This is a senior, autonomous inspection role suited to someone who has spent years on building sites and understands how buildings actually go together.

You will be responsible for conducting thorough, standards-based inspections across Northern Tasmania, including:

• Residential pre-purchase inspections

• Staged construction inspections

• Handover and defect inspections

• Residential and selected commercial buildings

You’ll inspect properties as if your name is on the report — because quality matters here. You'll be expected to explain your findings to any stakeholders involved.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed onsite building inspections in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and industry best practice

• Safely access roof spaces, subfloors, and other accessible building elements

• Identify building defects, construction issues, safety concerns, and maintenance risks

• Provide clear, realistic, and defensible cost estimates for repairs and rectification

• Prepare professional, detailed written reports using our inspection software

• Communicate clearly and confidently with clients, buyers, agents, and stakeholders

• Maintain independence, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times

What We’re Looking For

This role is not for trainees or recent graduates.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has 10+ years onsite residential building experience

• Can immediately recognise poor workmanship, shortcuts, and non-compliance

• Understands how defects form — not just what they look like

• Is confident providing accurate repair scopes and cost guidance

• Takes pride in their work and reputation

• Is professional, reliable, and self-managed

• Communicates clearly with everyday clients (not just trades)

Inspection experience is advantageous — but strong building experience is essential.

Physical & Practical Requirements

• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces

• Able to climb ladders and access roof voids and subfloors safely

• Willing to travel across Northern Tasmania for inspections
