As an Electrical Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting, auditing, investigating and verifying electrical installations to ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and regulations. You will work closely with, contractors, and stakeholders to uphold standards and support the electrical industry.


The Opportunity

Training and upskilling in Electrical Shock and Fire investigation, Medical, High Voltage and Hazardous installation inspections will be provided to you to allow you to grow in the position.


Nature of position:       Permanent, Full-Time 

Location:                             TAS - Mornington

Reporting Line:                Operations Manager


Key responsibilities

  • Conducting inspections of electrical infrastructure and installations across the state and surrounding islands.

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant Australian Standards, Acts and Regulatory requirements

  • Identifying defects and non-conformance and providing guidance for standards application

  • Investigating Electrical Shock and Fires incidents to determine cause

  • Preparing detailed inspection reports and maintaining accurate documentation

  • Supporting quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Liaising with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies as required

  • Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture across all activities

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Relevant electrical trade qualifications and current electrical licence

  • Proven experience in electrical inspection within residential, utilities, infrastructure, or construction environments

  • Strong knowledge of applicable Acts, standards, and compliance requirements

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence

About You


Experience required

  • A Licensed Electrical Practitioner (electrician), (provide license number)

  • A minimum 5 year post electrical trade working in the general electrical contracting industry

  • Sound knowledge in the application and interpretation of relevant Australian Standards, particularly AS/NZS 3000 "The Wiring Rules"

  • Knowledgeable in all relevant Tasmanian electrical safety legislation

  • Able to work independently and also as a part of a productive team

  • Physically able to inspect all required parts of an electrical installation

  • Physically able to work at height

  • Meet all the requirements of the Department of Justice to be appointed as an Authorised Officer under the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Act and the Occupational Licensing Act

  • Excellent communication skills, effective planning and organisational skills

  • A current, unrestricted car driver’s license
