As a Motor Mechanic at East Maitland Body Repairs, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy workshop environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring vehicles are repaired to a high standard and returned to customers in a safe and roadworthy condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and diagnose mechanical and engine faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and testing procedures. 
• Remove and dismantle engines, transmissions, steering assemblies, and other vehicle components for inspection and repair. 
• Examine mechanical parts to assess condition, identify defects, and determine required repairs or replacements. 
• Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective components and reassemble mechanical systems in line with manufacturer specifications. 
• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, and engine tuning to ensure efficient vehicle performance and compliance with environmental standards. 
• Reassemble engines and mechanical components following repair, ensuring accuracy, alignment, and proper installation. 
• Test, adjust, and fine-tune mechanical systems and components to ensure optimal performance and safety. 
• Utilise computerised diagnostic systems and scanning tools to detect faults, analyse data, and support repair decisions. 
• Inspect vehicles to assess overall condition and determine work required to meet roadworthiness and safety standards. 
• Maintain accurate service records, including details of inspections, repairs, and parts used. 
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to customers regarding vehicle condition, required repairs, and ongoing maintenance. 
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Minimum of one year of experience as a Motor Mechanic.
• Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology (Light Vehicle) or equivalent qualification. 
• Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance procedures. 
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment, tools, and automotive software effectively. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
• Valid driver’s licence preferred.
