City Discount Tyres, Malaga Ltd seeks a skilled and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team. The Motor Mechanic will be responsible for detecting and diagnosing faults in motor vehicle engines and other components, performing repairs, and conducting routine maintenance to ensure vehicle roadworthiness and compliance with safety and pollution regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical maintenance and possess the qualifications needed to perform the tasks effectively and safely.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Detect and diagnose faults in motor vehicle engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other mechanical components.

Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in a variety of vehicles.

Interpreting technical manuals and using diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve problems.

Maintaining detailed records of work performed and parts used.

Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, and other parts for repair, replacement, or overhaul.

Repair or replace worn and defective parts to restore vehicles to operational condition.

Reassemble mechanical components following technical specifications outlined in service manuals.

To ensure optimal performance and efficiency, perform scheduled maintenance services including oil changes, lubrications, and engine tune-ups.

Ensure compliance with pollution regulations during maintenance services and repairs.

Conduct inspections of vehicles for roadworthiness and issue necessary certifications upon passing.

Test and adjust mechanical systems and components post-repair to ensure proper operation.

Perform tyre fitting, wheel balancing, and other related maintenance services as required.

Utilize specialized tools and equipment to clean and maintain motor vehicle engines.

Refer to service manuals and technical documents for accurate repair procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Diploma/Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis or formal qualifications in automotive mechanics or a related field

Extensive experience (minimum3 years) as a Motor Mechanic, preferably in a workshop environment.

Familiar with scanner and Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.

Able to prepare quote and clear communicate with customer.

Proficiency in using mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear reports and recommendations.

Attention to detail and commitment to vehicle safety and performance.

Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of pollution regulations and safety standards.

Candidates who have a minimum of three years of relevant experience, hold an AQF Certificate III or equivalent including at least two years of on-the-job training
Candidates will be required to:
· test and repair diesel engines and the mechanical parts of motor vehicles along with transmissions, suspensions, steering and brakes.

· dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and check parts
