Job Description

West Kimberley Cement is seeking a skilled Workshop Motor Mechanic to join our Port Hedland based team. The successful candidate will perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repairs to our company vehicle fleet and fixed plant equipment. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our machinery operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all company and industry standards.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical servicing, maintenance, and repair work on company vehicles and plant equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Conduct refuelling, greasing, and minor repairs on-site as needed.
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment meet operational and safety requirements before returning to service.
  • Maintain accurate job records, including job sheets, time allocations, and service documentation.
  • Participate actively in toolbox and safety meetings; promote a safe and compliant workplace.
  • Monitor and manage spare parts and workshop consumable stock levels.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
  • Liaise with the Workshop Manager to prioritise repairs and maintenance schedules.
  • Occasionally travel to remote sites for field service and breakdown support.
  • Participate in ongoing training and share learnings within the team.

Qualities and Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Recognised Trade Qualification as a mechanic (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in mechanical servicing and repairs of vehicles or plant equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical documentation.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s licence (HR class desirable).
