As a Motor Mechanic, it is essential to have a strong passion for performing mechanical servicing tasks efficiently and within required timeframes. The primary responsibilities include testing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting major faults, as well as overhauling engines and repairing key vehicle systems such as transmissions, suspension, steering, and braking systems across a wide range of motor vehicles.

Task & responsibilities

• Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel. 
• Raises vehicle, using hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted tounderside  of vehicle
• Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear, using micrometres, calipers ,and thickness gauges. 
• Removes units, such as engine, transmission, or differential, using wrenches and hoist. Overhauls or replaces carburettors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps 
• Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories, such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers. 
• Mends damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts.
• Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs, or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiator. 
• Repairs or replaces parts, such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings, using mechanic's hand tools. 
• Plans work procedure, using charts, technical manuals, and experience

Qualification & experience

• Must know how to operate diagnostic equipment 
• Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology.
• Mimimum 1 year experience in Automotive Field. 
• Ability to communicate in spoken and written English.
