DARIAN WILSON CONTRACTING SERVICES PTY LTD trading as Bentleigh Service Centre is seeking an experienced and motivated full-time Motor Mechanic (General) to join its workshop team. This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to work on a wide range of light vehicles in a busy service and repair operation.

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per annum

Task & responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts, including with computer diagnostic equipment.
• Dismantle engines and components, inspect parts, and repair or replace worn or defective parts.
• Reassemble, test and adjust components to ensure correct performance after repair.
• Maintain and repair transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems of light vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled and logbook servicing, including oil changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups.
• Ensure vehicles meet pollution control and emission standards.
• Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness and attend breakdown call-outs when required.
• Keep accurate job cards, service records and parts orders.
• Always ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards and manufacturer specifications.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology plus at least two years of on-the-job experience, or Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
• Exceptional attention to detail, communication and time management skills.
• Current Australian driver’s licence.
• Work rights in Australia.
