The successful applicant will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a wide range of outdoor power equipment and small engines.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults on petrol and diesel powered outdoor power equipment.
• Service and repair ride-on mowers, zero-turn mowers, chainsaws, brushcutters, generators, pumps and other small engine equipment.
• Perform engine rebuilds and component replacement where required.
• Use diagnostic equipment and manufacturer service information to identify mechanical faults.
• Complete servicing in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain accurate service records and job documentation.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Assist customers with technical advice where required.
• Maintain a clean and organised workshop.

Task & responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a wide range of outdoor power equipment and small engines. Duties will include:

• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Servicing, repairing and overhauling petrol and diesel-powered small engines.
• Maintaining and repairing ride-on mowers, zero-turn mowers, chainsaws, brushcutters, hedge trimmers, generators, pumps and other outdoor power equipment.
• Replacing or repairing worn, damaged or faulty components, including engines, transmissions, fuel systems, ignition systems, hydraulic systems and electrical components.
• Performing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
• Testing equipment after repairs to ensure safe operation and compliance with manufacturer standards.
• Accurately recording repair details, parts used and service documentation.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
• Providing professional technical advice to customers regarding the operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Working effectively as part of the workshop team to deliver high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.

Qualification & experience

To be successful in this role, applicants should possess:

• A recognised trade qualification as a Small Engine Mechanic, Motor Mechanic, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role.
• A minimum of one year relevant post-qualification experience, or an equivalent combination of formal training and relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated experience diagnosing, servicing and repairing a wide range of petrol and diesel-powered outdoor power equipment, including ride-on mowers, zero-turn mowers, chainsaws, brushcutters, generators and pumps.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with the ability to interpret technical manuals and manufacturer specifications.
• Experience using workshop diagnostic equipment, specialised tools and safe workshop practices.
• A commitment to producing high-quality workmanship and delivering excellent customer service.
• The ability to work independently, manage workloads efficiently and contribute positively within a team environment.
• A current driver's licence is preferred.
