We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Motor Mechanic (General) to join our team on a full-time basis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in vehicle engines and associated components using appropriate diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
• Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, suspension components and other mechanical parts for inspection and repair.
• Inspecting mechanical components to identify wear, damage, faults and other issues affecting vehicle performance or safety.
• Repairing or replacing worn, damaged and defective components and reassembling mechanical parts in accordance with manufacturer specifications and service manuals.
• Carrying out scheduled and preventative maintenance services, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups and other routine servicing.
• Servicing and repairing petrol engines and associated vehicle systems to maintain efficient and reliable vehicle operation.
• Reassembling engines, transmissions and other mechanical components following repairs or replacement of defective parts.
• Testing and adjusting repaired mechanical components and systems to ensure correct operation and performance.
• Using computerised diagnostic equipment and scan tools to diagnose, test and identify faults in vehicle systems and components.
• Inspecting and testing braking, steering, suspension, transmission and other mechanical systems and carrying out necessary repairs and adjustments.
• Conducting post-repair inspections and road testing vehicles where required to confirm that repairs have been completed effectively and vehicles are operating safely.
• Identifying additional repair or maintenance work required to maintain vehicle safety and roadworthiness.
• Maintaining accurate service and repair records and ensuring work is carried out in accordance with workplace safety procedures and manufacturer specifications.
• Keeping tools, equipment and workshop areas clean, organised and maintained in safe working condition.

Skills and Requirements

The successful applicant should possess:

• Relevant AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent automotive mechanical qualification.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant practical experience as a Motor Mechanic or in a closely related light-vehicle mechanical role.
• Strong experience in diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing light motor vehicles.
• Sound knowledge of petrol engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking systems and related mechanical components.
• Competency in the use of computerised vehicle diagnostic equipment, workshop tools and testing equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical information, manufacturer specifications and service manuals.
• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a workshop team.
• Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
• A valid driver's licence and any relevant registration or licensing required to perform the duties of the position.
