Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm

Salary: $70,000 to $75,000 plus super based on experience

About the Role

As our Assistant Accountant, you will support the Finance team across key accounting functions, including reconciliations, reporting, compliance, and vehicle deal processing. You will work closely with multiple departments across the dealership and play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

End of Month (EOM) Procedures

• Assist with month-end processes including journals for accruals, provisions, writebacks, and stock-takes.

• Calculate EOM commissions for aftermarket.

• Reconcile vehicle inventory value, accessories, pre-delivery and holdback accounts.

Reconciliation & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.

• Reconcile factory payments receivables including incentives. Bonus, free service, warranty claims etc.

Deal Process

• Process new and used vehicle deal packs in a timely and accurate manner.

• Issue miscellaneous invoice and credit notes as required.

 Compliance & Controls

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with internal departments.

• Liaise effectively with Sales, Service, and Parts departments to obtain required information and resolve account-related matters.

• Assist with ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and finance-related projects.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Previous experience in Assistant Accountant or a similar finance role.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent qualification.

• Strong understanding of accounts receivable principles and reconciliation processes.

• High level of accuracy, numeracy skills, and attention to detail.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Desirable

• Experience within the automotive industry or dealership environment.

• Knowledge of automotive dealership management systems (e.g. Pentana).
