Advanced Composite Structures Australia Pty Ltd (ACS Australia) is a highly awarded, innovative, and globally recognised leader in composites engineering and manufacturing. With over 30 years of expertise, the company specialises in the design, development, manufacture, testing, and repair of high-performance, lightweight composite structures and components. ACS Australia serves critical sectors including defence, aerospace, marine, clean energy, and more, delivering cutting-edge solutions under ISO 9001 certification in a state-of-the-art facility.

We offer team members the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, collaborative environment, working on diverse and challenging engineering projects across multiple high-impact industries.

ACS Australia is currently seeking motivated Composites Technicians to join our skilled team in Melbourne. In this hands-on role, you will play a key part in manufacturing, assembling, and repairing advanced composite components and structures, utilising state-of-the-art materials and processes to achieve exceptional quality and precision.

We welcome applications from experienced professionals as well as those new to the field who demonstrate strong potential - comprehensive on-the-job training and development opportunities are provided to support your success and growth within the company.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Perform layup and infusion of composite materials to fabricate components for a range of applications

  • Inspect, trim, and finish composite parts in accordance with technical specifications

  • Operate hand tools, machinery, and equipment for cutting, shaping, and finishing operations

  • Prepare moulds and apply materials following established procedures and best practices

  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on composite parts and products

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support the development and prototyping of new composite designs

  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and industry regulations throughout all processes

  • Document project progress, troubleshoot issues, and report findings accurately

Required skills/experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a Composites Technician or comparable hands-on manufacturing role (or strong transferable skills for those entering the field)

  • Working knowledge of composite materials, including fibre reinforcements, resins, and adhesives

  • Familiarity with moulding, curing, and trimming techniques

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications

  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to precision workmanship

  • Understanding of workplace safety protocols and relevant industry standards

  • Effective communication skills and ability to thrive in a team-oriented setting

  • Capacity to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision

Preferred skills/qualification:

  • Formal qualification in composites technology, engineering fabrication, or a related discipline

  • Hands-on experience with CNC equipment or automated composite manufacturing systems

  • Prior exposure to aerospace, defence, automotive, or marine composite applications

Benefits include:

  • Competitive remuneration package

  • Extensive opportunities for professional training, skill development, and career progression

  • Access to modern facilities, advanced equipment, and a supportive, innovative team culture

How to Apply:

Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume along with a brief cover letter highlighting relevant experience and motivation for the role. Applications should be lodged directly via the "Apply for this job" button on the SEEK listing.

We also encourage applications from individuals interested in apprenticeship pathways. Those applying for an apprenticeship position should have either commenced (or be willing to commence) a relevant apprenticeship, such as Certificate III in Engineering – Specialising in Composites Fabrication.

Please note that all applicants must be eligible to work in Australia and able to provide appropriate proof of eligibility upon request.

ACS Australia values diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive workplace. We look forward to hearing from passionate individuals eager to contribute to the future of advanced composites technology.
