About the role

TJO Roofing is seeking an experienced Roof Carpenter to join our growing team in Iluka, WA. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on diverse roofing projects across residential and commercial properties. As a Roof Carpenter, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality carpentry work that meets our exacting standards and contributes to the reputation TJO Roofing has built within the community. This role is based on-site in Iluka, where you will work directly with our team on roofing installations, repairs, and renovations.

Key responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain roof structures including timber framing, trusses, and associated carpentry components

• Accurately measure, cut, and shape timber and other materials to specification using both hand tools and power tools

• Work at height safely and efficiently whilst adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations and site requirements

• Inspect roofing structures and identify structural issues, defects, or areas requiring repair or reinforcement

• Collaborate with other tradespeople, including roofers and builders, to ensure seamless project completion

• Prepare and maintain accurate work records and communicate progress updates to supervisors and clients

• Ensure all materials and tools are properly maintained, stored, and accounted for on site

• Adhere to company safety protocols and best practices, maintaining a clean and safe working environment

What we're looking for

• Proven carpentry experience, with a minimum of 3–5 years' experience specifically in roof carpentry or roof framing

• Strong knowledge of roof structures, framing techniques, and timber specifications relevant to Australian building standards

• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, including saws, nail guns, drills, and measuring instruments

• Current Working at Heights certification (or willingness to obtain this qualification)

• Current First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain this qualification)

• Valid driver's licence and reliable transport to and from the Iluka work site

• Excellent physical fitness and stamina to work at height and manage the physical demands of the role

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship

• Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a team

• Willingness to commit to ongoing training and professional development

• Preferred: Experience with heritage or specialist roofing projects, or certifications in advanced carpentry techniques
