Dovell Family Investments Pty Ltd ATF Dovell Retail Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Motor Mechanic (General) (ANZSCO 321211) to join our automotive workshop in Currumbin Waters, QLD, on a permanent full-time basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing light motor vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

Task & responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and identify mechanical and electrical faults in engines and associated components of light motor vehicles using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication and engine tune-ups, to ensure smooth vehicle operation and compliance with applicable emissions regulations.
• Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other mechanical components, inspecting parts for wear, damage or defects.
• Repair and replace worn or defective parts and reassemble engines and other mechanical components, referring to service manuals and manufacturer specifications as required.
• Use computerised diagnostic equipment and specialised tools to identify and diagnose faults in vehicle mechanical systems.
• Test and adjust mechanical components following repairs to ensure proper performance, reliability and safety.
• Carry out mechanical repairs and maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications, technical manuals and relevant safety standards.
• Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical defects, assess roadworthiness and determine repairs required to meet roadworthiness standards.
• Conduct road tests and final inspections, where appropriate, to verify the effectiveness of repairs and ensure vehicles operate correctly and safely.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, repairs and parts used.
• Ensure workshop tools, machinery and equipment are maintained in good working condition.
• Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment. 
• Perform any other duties as reasonably required by the employer, consistent with the role of Motor Mechanic (General).

Qualification & experience

• A minimum of a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or an equivalent relevant automotive qualification) and at least 1 year of full-time relevant work experience, OR at least 3 years of full-time relevant work experience as a Motor Mechanic or in a similar automotive mechanical role.
• Demonstrated experience in diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing light motor vehicles.
• Strong technical knowledge of automotive engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspension and related mechanical components.
• Experience using computerised diagnostic equipment, mechanical tools and workshop equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagnostic results and manufacturer specifications.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A current driver's licence.
