Task & responsibilities

• Identify and diagnose mechanical faults in engines and associated components.
• Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, and other mechanical parts to inspect and evaluate condition.
• Repair or replace worn and defective parts, referring to technical manuals as required.
• Carry out routine maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups to ensure vehicles operate efficiently and comply with environmental standards.
• Reassemble mechanical components following repairs.
• Conduct post-repair tests and adjustments to confirm proper operation of systems.
• Use diagnostic equipment and computer systems to troubleshoot and assess vehicle performance.
• May inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or advise on necessary repairs to meet compliance.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a motor mechanic.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
