As our Motor Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, testing and repairing petrol engines and the mechanical components of light motor vehicles, including transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems. You'll play a key role in keeping our customers' vehicles safe, reliable and compliant.

Task & responsibilities

• Identify and diagnose faults in engines, systems and components
• Strip down and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems and other components, and inspect parts for wear or damage
• Repair or replace worn and faulty parts and rebuild mechanical assemblies, consulting manufacturer service manuals where required
• Carry out scheduled servicing, including oil and filter changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups, to keep vehicles running smoothly and meeting emissions requirements
• Reassemble engines and components following repair
• Test and fine-tune repaired mechanical parts to ensure correct operation and performance
• Use computerised diagnostic equipment to test components and pinpoint faults
• Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness, issue Roadworthy Certificates where authorised, or outline the repairs needed to make a vehicle roadworthy
• Maintain, test and repair petrol engines and light vehicle mechanical systems such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes

Qualification & experience

• A Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent AQF Certificate III or higher trade qualification
• 1 to 3 years of  experience as a Motor Mechanic
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, including confidence with computerised diagnostic tools
• A solid working knowledge of engines, transmissions, suspension, steering and brake systems
• High attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced workshop
• A current Australian driver's licence
