The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining vehicle performance, safety, and compliance while working in a professional workshop environment.

Task & responsibilities

• Inspect, detect, and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines, systems, and vehicle components using appropriate diagnostic tools and computer-based systems.

• Dismantle, inspect, and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, suspension components, and other mechanical parts to assess condition and faults.

• Repair, replace, and reassemble worn or defective components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and service manuals.

• Carry out scheduled maintenance services including oil changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups, and routine servicing to ensure smooth vehicle operation and compliance with environmental and emission standards.

• Reassemble engines, assemblies, and vehicle components following repairs and overhauls.

• Test, adjust, and fine-tune mechanical systems after repairs to ensure correct performance, safety, and reliability.

• Diagnose and test vehicle systems and components using computerised diagnostic equipment and specialised tools.

• Maintain, test, and repair petrol engines and mechanical systems of light motor vehicles, including transmissions, brakes, suspension, and steering systems.

• Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness and identify or report required repairs to meet safety and compliance standards.

• Respond to vehicle breakdowns or service calls as required and provide effective mechanical solutions.


Qualification & experience

• Cert III and Cert IV in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or a relevant qualification required.

• Minimum 1 to 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience as a Motor Mechanic.

• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

• Ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and service documentation.

• Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices within an automotive workshop.

• Registration or licensing may be required depending on regulatory requirements.
