Rightway Automotive Services Pty Ltd, located in Hindmarsh, SA, is seeking a skilled Automotive Electrician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical and electronic systems in a wide range of vehicles, including passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, and LPG vehicles. Duties include installing wiring, lighting, alternators, starters, batteries, and other auto-electrical components, as well as performing scheduled servicing, roadworthy inspections, and fault-finding using advanced diagnostic equipment. You will also work collaboratively with our mechanical team on related systems such as climate control, steering, and suspension, ensuring all work meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
The ideal candidate will hold an AQF Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (or equivalent) and have a minimum of two years’ relevant trade experience. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering quality, timely service are essential. Task & responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic faults in a range of vehicles (passenger cars, light commercials, LPG vehicles).
- Install and maintain auto-electrical systems and components, including wiring, lighting, alternators, starters, and battery systems.
- Perform scheduled servicing under logbook provisions and conduct roadworthy inspections.
- Assist with steering, suspension, engine management, and climate control electrical systems as needed.
- Use diagnostic tools to test and adjust electrical systems for optimum performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues on tasks such as fleet servicing, trailer repairs, tow coordination, and body electrics where electrical expertise is required.
- Maintain high levels of customer communication, explaining technical issues clearly and providing timely, accurate quotes.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety standards and Safe Work practices.
- Keep accurate records of repairs, parts used, and inspections conducted.
Qualification & experience
- AQF Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (AUR30320) or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of on-the-job experience in auto electrical trade (or 3+ years of relevant experience)
- Proficiency with vehicle diagnostic equipment and electronic test tools
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and technical skills
- Excellent customer communication and time-management abilities
- Valid Australian driver’s license
- Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations
