We are seeking a full-time Food Technologist & Compliance Coordinator to join our team in Bentleigh East. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, you will support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of our food safety, quality and compliance systems. The role also supports product development, ingredient and process evaluation, testing and technical documentation.

Task & responsibilities

Analyse ingredients, product formulations, specifications and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with FSANZ and relevant export requirements.

Provide technical input regarding food processing, preservation, packaging, storage and distribution.

Coordinate microbiological and chemical testing and review results against food safety requirements.

Conduct sensory evaluations, product assessments, shelf-life testing and routine sampling.

Prepare and maintain product specifications, certificates of analysis, recipe formulations and other technical documentation.

Develop and maintain quality control procedures and food safety standards.

Review packaging and labelling for compliance with nutrition, ingredient, allergen and regulatory requirements.

Work with the product development team to develop and improve new and existing products.

Support HACCP, GMP, allergen management and traceability programs.

Assist with internal audits, external inspections and regulatory compliance activities.

Investigate quality issues and non-conformances and assist with corrective actions.

Support supplier approvals, supplier performance reviews and ingredient risk assessments.

Qualification & experience

Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline.

1–3 years of relevant experience in food technology, food manufacturing, quality assurance or compliance.

Knowledge of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (FSANZ) and food labelling requirements.

Understanding of food safety systems such as HACCP, GMP, SQF or equivalent.

Technical knowledge of food science, food chemistry and microbiology.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

Good written and verbal communication and organisational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with production and other internal teams.
