About the Role

Looking for an experienced purchasing officer, to join a growing joinery business on the north side of Brisbane.

The role is critical in ensuring the smooth and cost-effective procurement of materials and services to support project delivery and day-to-day operations. You'll play a key role in supplier management, cost control, and maintaining efficient procurement processes that add value to the business.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Purchasing

• Manage end-to-end procurement of materials, goods, and services required for projects and operations
• Source suppliers, obtain quotes, and evaluate pricing, quality, and lead times to ensure best value outcomes
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost efficiencies
• Plan and schedule purchasing activities in line with production timelines
• Monitor and follow up on orders to ensure timely and accurate delivery
• Verify orders to ensure quality and specification requirements are met
• Raise purchase orders for machinery servicing, company vehicles, tools, and general supplies

Stock Control

• Maintain optimal stock levels to support operations while minimising excess inventory
• Coordinate returns of unused or surplus materials for credit or restocking
• Assist with bi-annual stocktakes and inventory accuracy

Logistics & Coordination

• Schedule daily deliveries and pickups of materials and goods
• Organise courier bookings, including packaging and documentation
• Collaborate closely with internal teams to meet production and project deadlines
• Liaise regularly with the Production Manager and Factory Foreman to forecast material requirements
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support ongoing procurement needs

Skills & Experience Required

• Procurement and purchasing experience specifically within the joinery industry is essential.
• Coming from a trade background yourself is a bonus.
• Strong administrative skills, including document preparation and handling confidential information
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
• Professional communication skills and a collaborative approach
• Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement
