The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving WAMMCO’s quality assurance, food safety, and compliance systems. The role ensures that all meat processing and export operations comply with Australian regulatory requirements, importing country standards, and customer specifications, while supporting WAMMCO’s commitment to product safety, quality, and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Food Safety Systems

•Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Assurance (QA) and Food Safety Management Systems in accordance with HACCP principles.

•Ensure ongoing compliance with Australian meat industry regulations, including DAFF/Department of Agriculture requirements, Export Control legislation, and relevant Australian Standards.

•Maintain certification and compliance with industry schemes and customer requirements (e.g. export markets, retailer standards).

Regulatory & Export Compliance

•Ensure all products meet importing country requirements and customer specifications.

•Liaise with government inspectors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.

•Prepare, review, and maintain documentation required for audits, inspections, and export certification.

Audits & Continuous Improvement

•Plan and conduct internal audits and manage external audits.

•Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and food safety incidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions.

•Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety, product quality, and operational efficiency.

Skills & Competencies

•Strong knowledge of food safety legislation and quality systems

•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills

•Effective leadership and staff development capability

•High attention to detail and documentation accuracy

•Strong written and verbal communication skills

•Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced processing environment

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential

•Significant experience (typically 3–5+ years) in a Quality Assurance or Food Safety role within meat processing or food manufacturing.

•Demonstrated knowledge of HACCP, food safety systems, and export compliance requirements.

•Experience working with regulatory authorities and managing audits.

Desirable

•Formal HACCP or Lead Auditor certification.

•Experience in export-focused meat processing environments.

•Familiarity with international food safety and customer standards
