We are seeking a dependable and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be skilled in diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a wide range of vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include working on engines, transmissions, brakes, and other key vehicle systems, using both traditional tools and computer-based diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve issues.

Task & responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair issues in engines and other vehicle systems, including electrical faults.
• Dismantle engines, transmissions, steering systems, and other components to assess damage or wear.
• Repair or replace faulty or worn parts, using service manuals when necessary.
• Carry out routine maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups to ensure vehicles operate efficiently and meet emission standards.
• Reassemble engines and components after completing repairs.
• Test and adjust repaired systems to confirm proper functionality.
• Use computer-based diagnostic tools to identify and evaluate vehicle problems.
• Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or provide a list of required repairs.
• Respond to emergency breakdown service calls when required.

Qualification & experience

• A relevant qualification, such as a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent credential, is preferred.
• Previous experience working as a motor mechanic or in a similar position.
• Solid understanding of vehicle systems, diagnostic methods, and repair procedures.
• Proficiency in using mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail.
• Capable of working both independently and within a team environment.
• Good communication skills for interacting with customers.
• A valid driver’s license may be required.
