About the team

Do you want to make a difference in NSW's rental market? Join the Office of the Rental Commissioner at NSW Fair Trading. We're hiring Inspector roles for the NSW Rental Taskforce to improve renting conditions. You'll inspect rentals, collect evidence, and enforce property and consumer laws.

What you will do:

  • Carry out compliance and investigation activities related to the rental sector.
  • Participate in proactive compliance activities and programs.
  • Advise customers on compliance outcomes.
  • Work in a fast-paced team committed to fair outcomes that make a real impact in the community.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions based on inspection findings.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Regulatory knowledge - understanding of legislation and compliance and enforcement powers.
  • Integrity - be ethical, professional and uphold the public sector values.

Must-Haves:

  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or preparedness to undertake an identical employer sponsored program within 12 months).
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance.
  • A current NSW driver's licence & willingness to travel when required.

What we need from you:
