Location: Garbutt Operations Centre

 

We’re looking for someone practical, reliable, and safety-minded to help with laying pipes and keeping Council’s day-to-day work running smoothly. In this job, you’ll be doing hands on concreting work that meets our Water and Wastewater standards, using power tools and small machinery safely, and keeping your supervisors up to speed with how the job’s going. You’ll also play your part in making sure we do things the right way and give good service to the community.

You’ll need to be able to talk easily with your workmates and the public and be willing to pitch in with extra tasks when needed. If you take pride in doing quality work, look out for your team, and want to make a real difference in the community, we’d love to hear from you.

Qualifications and Experience

Our ideal candidate will have:

Mandatory

  • Demonstrated experience in pipelaying and pipeline maintenance within the construction industry, including plan interpretations and experience with large diameter pipes.
  • Knowledge of the W.A.S.A Standards.
  • Good knowledge of industry standards, procedures, policies, and operational methods.
  • Customer Service Skills commensurate with this classification level.
  • Problem solving abilities and skills commensurate with this classification level.
  • Demonstrated literacy and numeracy skills appropriate to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate minor plant and power tools eg. oxy welders, drills, diamond saws and quick-cut saws.
  • Current "C" class driver’s licence.
  • Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience in internal stores and purchase procedures.
  • MR, Dogman and / or crane chaser license.
  • Knowledge of Water/Wastewater internal policies and procedures.

* The Council contribution to employees' superannuation for contributing employees shall be 13.5% of the employees' ordinary time earnings subject to the employee contributing a minimum of 6% of their ordinary time earnings.
