Due to continued growth, we are seeking a qualified and motivated Motor Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on role suited to a mechanic who enjoys variety, takes pride in getting the diagnosis right the first time, and wants to build a long-term career with a stable, supportive employer.

Task & responsibilities

• Identify and diagnose faults in engines, engine components and related mechanical systems
• Strip down and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems and other components, and inspect parts for wear and damage
• Repair or replace worn, damaged and faulty parts and rebuild mechanical components, consulting manufacturer service manuals where required
• Carry out scheduled maintenance including oil and filter changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups to keep vehicles running efficiently and within emissions requirements
• Reassemble engines and components following repair
• Test and adjust repaired mechanical parts to confirm correct operation and performance
• Use computerised diagnostic equipment to test components and pinpoint faults
• Inspect vehicles and, where appropriately licensed, issue roadworthy certificates or document the work required to bring a vehicle up to roadworthy standard
• Maintain, test and repair petrol engines and the mechanical systems of light vehicles, including transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems
• Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used, and maintain a clean and safe work area

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• 1 to 3 years post-qualification experience as a motor mechanic.
• Sound diagnostic ability and a methodical, safety-conscious approach to repairs.
• Confident using computerised diagnostic tools and interpreting service manuals.
