Task & responsibilities
Primary Objective:
This position is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the company's mobile mechanical services by carrying out vehicle diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs. The role involves diagnosing and repairing engine, transmission, steering, suspension, braking, and electrical systems, conducting routine maintenance, and ensuring all work is completed to manufacturer specifications, Australian industry standards, and workplace health and safety requirements while delivering high-quality customer service.
Duties:
• Travelling to customer locations using a fully equipped mobile service vehicle to perform mechanical servicing and repairs.
• Conducting systematic inspections of petrol and diesel vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Operating computerised diagnostic equipment and specialised testing instruments to accurately identify defects affecting vehicle performance.
• Removing, dismantling and inspecting engines, transmissions, steering assemblies, braking systems, suspension components and other mechanical assemblies to determine the cause of faults.
• Repairing or replacing worn, damaged or defective mechanical and electrical components using appropriate tools and manufacturer-approved repair procedures.
• Reassembling engines and vehicle systems following repairs and ensuring all components are correctly fitted and securely installed.
• Performing scheduled servicing including engine oil and filter replacement, lubrication, fluid replacement, tune-ups and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.
• Carrying out post-repair testing, adjustments and quality checks to verify the safe and effective operation of repaired vehicles.
• Responding to roadside breakdown call-outs and undertaking on-site fault diagnosis and repairs where practicable.
• Advising customers regarding repair findings, maintenance requirements and recommended future repairs.
• Maintaining accurate service records, repair reports and parts usage documentation.
• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements, environmental obligations and company quality standards.
Qualification & experience
Qualifications
• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
• Certificate IV (or Equivalent)
Experience
• At least three (3) years of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic or Automotive Mechanic.
• Experience in the automotive repair and servicing industry is preferred.
