Chinar Exports is a trusted name in vehicle servicing and parts supply, known for quality workmanship and honest, reliable customer care. Our business covers parts available for all vehicle makes and models, regular and major servicing, buying used and unwanted cars, and new and used tyres. As demand for our workshop services continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team. You'll work across a wide range of makes and models, carrying out diagnostics, repairs, scheduled servicing, tyre fitting and roadworthiness checks. You'll be supported by a well-equipped workshop, a broad stock of parts and tyres on hand, and an experienced team that values getting the job done right the first time. If you take pride in precise diagnostics, clean workmanship, and getting vehicles back on the road safely, we want to hear from you.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package, reflective of skills and experience
  • Superannuation paid in line with statutory requirements
  • Recognition and rewards for quality work and reliability
  • Stable, full-time role with a growing and reputable local business
  • Supportive team environment with genuine career development opportunities

Task & responsibilities

  • Identify and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults across engines and vehicle components using a logical, methodical approach
  • Strip down and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems and other major components, inspecting parts for wear, damage or failure
  • Keep the workshop, tools and equipment clean, organised and well maintained
  • Repair or replace faulty and worn parts, then rebuild mechanical assemblies in line with manufacturer service manuals and specifications
  • Carry out routine servicing — including oil and filter changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups — to keep vehicles running smoothly and compliant with emissions standards
  • Rebuild engines and reinstall components once repairs are complete, ensuring everything is correctly fitted and torqued
  • Road test and fine-tune vehicles after repair work to confirm all mechanical parts are performing to standard
  • Use computerised diagnostic scanning tools to identify faults and verify vehicle systems are operating correctly
  • Attend roadside and on-site breakdown calls to assess and resolve vehicle issues as needed
  • Remove, fit and balance new and used tyres, and carry out wheel alignments and rotations
  • Assess used and unwanted vehicles for trade-in or purchase, including basic condition and mechanical reports
  • Source, order and fit correct replacement parts, liaising with suppliers and the parts counter as needed
  • Provide accurate job quotes and time estimates to customers or service advisors
  • Maintain clear and accurate service records, job cards and vehicle history documentation
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times, including safe handling of tools, chemicals and hoists
  • Liaise professionally with customers and colleagues regarding vehicle faults, repair options and timeframes

Qualification & experience

  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology and Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis (or equivalent trade qualification)
  • Diploma of Automotive Technology is essential
  • Relevant experience as a qualified Motor Mechanic of more than 1 year
  • Sound knowledge of engine systems, diagnostics and workshop safety practices
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical specifications
  • Current driver's licence
  • Roadworthy inspection licence/authorisation highly regarded (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
