ASA Auto&Bodyworks Pty Ltd., t/as Autotech Collision Repair Centre, is seeking a skilled and reliable Motor Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing and repairs, and ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high standard of safety, performance and compliance.

Task & responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment, scan tools and systematic testing procedures.
  • Perform routine servicing and scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, tune-ups, filters, fluid replacements and safety inspections.
  • Dismantle and inspect engines, assemblies and mechanical components to assess condition, identify faults and determine repair requirements.
  • Repair, overhaul and replace engines, transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop standards.
  • Reassemble, refit and adjust mechanical components, including installation of new or reconditioned parts such as gaskets, seals, bearings and associated hardware.
  • Perform mechanical testing, measurements, adjustments and calibrations using appropriate diagnostic and measuring instruments to ensure vehicle systems operate within required tolerances and performance standards.
  • Carry out operational testing and road testing, where required, to verify performance and ensure faults have been rectified.
  • Identify worn or damaged components and recommend repair or replacement to maintain safe and reliable vehicle operation.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, hoists, torque wrenches, measuring devices and computerised diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Complete job cards and service records accurately, documenting diagnostics, repairs performed and parts used.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with workplace health and safety requirements, including correct handling of tools, oils and hazardous materials.
  • Liaise with supervisors and team members to prioritise workflow, meet repair timeframes and maintain quality standards.
  • Provide technical explanations of identified faults and required repairs to supervisors or customers, where required, to support repair approvals and ensure understanding of the work to be carried out.

Qualification & experience

  • Relevant Certificate III (including at least two years of on-the-job training), or Certificate IV, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in a workshop environment
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good time management and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality workmanship
  • Good communication skills and ability to explain technical issues when required
  • Confident use of workshop tools and equipment, including hoists, hand and power tools, torque wrenches, measuring tools, and computerised diagnostic scanners
