Prestige Exhaust and Mufflers are seeking a skilled Fitter/Welder and Mandrel Bender operator to support the workshop operations in the fabrication, repair and modification and installation of exhaust systems and related metal components for motor vehicles.  The role requires strong TIG and MIG welding skills, experience in the operation of a Mandrel Bender, attention to detail and ability to read measurements and angles.

Task & responsibilities

• Fabricating, repairing and modifying metal components, exhaust systems, pipes, brackets, mounts and related parts.
• Welding of metal components using TIG and MIG.
• Measuring, marking, cutting, bending and shaping metal components.
• Setup tooling on mandrel bender machine and competent operation of the machine.
• Operating welding equipment, hoists and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Maintaining tools, equipment and a clean organised workshop area.
• Working unsupervised during busy times.
• Ability to work efficiently to meet task deadlines.

Qualification & experience

• Qualification in TIG welding.
• Must have minimum 3 years experience in the role.
• Experience in automotive exhaust systems and custom metal fabrication.
• Experienced operator of Mandrel Bender machine.
• Must be able to work unsupervised during busy times.
• Must have experience with working on classic, European and 4wd vehicles etc
