Task & Responsibilities

Key Tasks & Responsibilities 

  • Diagnose faults in petrol, diesel, and hybrid vehicles using advanced diagnostic tools, equipment, and computer software.
  • Conduct mechanical repairs and servicing, including replacement and adjustment of components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension systems.
  • Remove, repair, replace, and install automotive components such as engines, transmissions, braking systems, exhausts, cooling systems, clutches, fuel systems, and electrical wiring.
  • Carry out vehicle inspections and road tests to assess vehicle performance and safety, ensuring compliance with Australian Design Rules and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, parts used, and work performed in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret and follow workshop manuals, electrical wiring diagrams, and manufacturer’s service schedules to perform repairs and maintenance efficiently.
  • Perform regular vehicle servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, brake adjustments, and emission checks.
  • Collaborate with parts suppliers to source required components and manage stock levels efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain vehicle faults, repair options, and provide accurate cost estimates.
  • Comply with workplace health and safety standards, including safe use of tools, equipment, and workshop environment maintenance.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior mechanics and apprentices, contributing to team knowledge sharing and skills development.
  • Keep abreast of new automotive technologies and update skills through ongoing training.

Qualification & Experience

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology or an equivalent qualification recognized in Australia.
  • Minimum 1 years of hands-on experience as a Motor Mechanic in an automotive repair workshop setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle systems.
  • Proven ability to use diagnostic tools and software effectively and vehicle management systems.
  • Strong technical skills to read and interpret automotive manuals, service schedules, and wiring diagrams.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle safety regulations and Australian Design Rules compliance.
  • Valid Australian driver’s license.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety standards.
