Automotive Technician (Motor Mechanic)

38 hours per week/ full time

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine automotive maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, transmission flushes, air conditioner recharges, front-end alignments, battery installations, and headlight/taillight replacements.
• Diagnose vehicle faults accurately using appropriate tools and techniques; repair or replace malfunctioning components such as engines, transmissions, alternators, brake systems, exhaust systems, and fuel systems.
• Dismantle and reassemble vehicle parts, including body parts, engines, brake components, and cooling systems.
• Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness, emissions compliance, and safety standards, ensuring they are safe to operate on the road.
• Communicate effectively with customers to explain required repairs, provide maintenance advice, and answer questions about vehicle functionality.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety goggles, gloves, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.
• Stay updated on new vehicle models, technologies, and repair techniques by participating in training sessions.

Requirements

• Education: At least AQF Certificate IV in a highly relevant field, or Certificate III with sufficient training/apprenticeship.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of full-time relevant experience.
• Skills: Hardworking, good communication skills, teamwork, and a willingness to explore and learn.
• Other requirements: Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Temporary Resident with full working rights.
