Task & responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems within engines and related vehicle assemblies. 
• Strip down power units, gearboxes, steering components, and auxiliary systems to carry out in‑depth inspections and determine root causes of failures.
• Undertake corrective repairs or swap out defective parts, then rebuild assemblies in line with manufacturer guidelines while consulting technical reference documentation when necessary. 
• Carry out routine servicing tasks such as replacing lubricants and filters, performing system lubrication, adjusting components, and fine‑tuning engines to maintain performance and meet emissions standards. 
• Reconstruct drivetrain and mechanical modules after repair or refurbishment work is completed. 
• Run functional tests, calibrations, and performance checks post‑repair to confirm all systems operate within required parameters. 
• Use digital diagnostic tools and electronic test instruments to pinpoint faults and assess system behaviour accurately. 
• Examine vehicles for safety compliance and regulatory standards, issuing fitness assessments or recommending essential repairs. 
• Deliver mobile mechanical assistance and attend roadside breakdowns or recovery situations when required

Qualification & experience

• A Diploma of Automotive Technology is essential 
• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical and Certificate IV in Automotive are highly regarded
• A minimum of 3 years of experience working as a motor mechanic is required
