About You

Marist Sisters' College Woolwich is seeking a motivated Gardening & Grounds Maintenance Worker to maintain vibrant, well-kept outdoor spaces. This part-time role operates five days per week, from 6:30am to 12pm. The role focuses on hands-on gardening and grounds care, with some general maintenance. You must demonstrate the ability to:

  • prioritise and complete gardening and grounds tasks inline with school requirements
  • maintain garden beds, lawns, pathways, signage and outdoor areas to a consistently high standard
  • perform mowing, hedging, pruning, weeding and seasonal planting
  • respond promptly to outdoor cleaning and repair needs following weather events, student incidents or similar situations
  • perform daily security routines, including opening the school and disarming alarms
  • remain observant and proactive, picking up rubbish, reporting hazards and identifying damaged items
  • manage multiple responsibilities within a busy school environment
  • organise your workflow to meet established goals and deadlines
  • assist with moving furniture, classroom resources and setting up equipment for sports and special events
  • support other teams during peak periods
  • undertake minor repairs such as painting, plastering and basic carpentry
  • replace tap washers, light bulbs, furniture components and equipment parts
  • welcome, induct and escort contractors onsite
  • identify and report risks to the School Business & Operations Manager
  • follow correct chemical handling and storage procedures, particularly for gardening and cleaning products
  • adhere to WHS standards at all times
  • use technology and IT systems proficiently to support daily tasks
  • any other additional duties as requested by the Principal.

Desirable criteria

  • previous experience as a greenkeeper, gardener or groundskeeper, ideally within a large or multi-site environment
  • experience working within a school setting or similar community-focused organisation
  • qualifications in a relevant horticultural, landscaping or trade field.
