The role will involve overseeing HACCP-based food safety programs, ensuring compliance with relevant Australian food legislation and regulatory standards, conducting internal quality assurance audits and operational inspections, monitoring food handling and production practices, managing quality documentation and reporting processes, investigating non-conformances, and implementing corrective and preventative actions where required. The successful applicant will also work collaboratively with operational management, suppliers, kitchen and production staff, and retail teams to promote best practices in food safety, product consistency, risk management, and continuous operational improvement across the organisation’s expanding food and beverage network.

Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and maintain food safety and quality assurance systems across the organisation, including HACCP-based programs, food handling procedures, quality control measures, and compliance frameworks in accordance with relevant Australian food safety legislation, industry standards, and ISO quality management principles. 
  • Conduct regular internal audits, inspections, and compliance assessments across operational sites to identify non-conformities, procedural gaps, and quality issues, and assist in implementing corrective and preventative actions to maintain continuous compliance and operational improvement. 
  • Maintain and update quality assurance documentation, HACCP records, audit reports, food safety logs, supplier records, incident reports, and compliance documentation to ensure accurate record-keeping and regulatory readiness at all times. 
  • Provide food safety guidance, training, and technical support to operational staff, supervisors, and management to promote best practices in food handling, hygiene, quality assurance, and workplace compliance across all food-related operations.
  •  Liaise closely with operational teams, suppliers, and management to support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product consistency, operational efficiency, food safety performance, and overall quality standards throughout the business.

Qualification & experience

Skills and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and quality assurance systems 
  • Experience in audits, compliance, and corrective action processes 
  • Strong communication, reporting, and organisational skills 
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment 
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field 
  • A minimum of two years of previous experience in a Quality Assurance or Food Technology role within the food manufacturing industry.
