We are seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team located in North Geelong, Victoria. As a Motor Mechanic you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing vehicle engines and mechanical components using specialized tools and computer-assisted technology. You will disassemble and reassemble parts, perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and tune-ups, and ensure vehicles comply with safety and emission standards. Additionally, you will test and adjust repaired components, assess roadworthiness for certification, and may respond to vehicle breakdowns.

Task & responsibilities

• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in engines and associated vehicle systems.
• Dismantle engine units, transmission assemblies, steering mechanisms, and ancillary components for detailed mechanical inspection and failure analysis.
• Conduct repairs or component replacements, reassemble systems to manufacturer specifications, and reference technical service manuals as required.
• Perform scheduled maintenance procedures including oil and filter changes, lubrication, calibration, and engine tuning to optimize performance and ensure compliance with emission regulations.
• Reassemble powertrain and mechanical subsystems following repair or overhaul activities.
• Conduct post-repair testing, calibration, and performance verification to ensure all systems operate within specified tolerances.
• Utilize computerized diagnostic scanners and electronic testing equipment for accurate fault detection and system evaluation.
• Inspect vehicles for safety and regulatory compliance, issuing roadworthiness certification or advising on necessary corrective actions.
• Provide on-site mechanical support and respond to vehicle breakdown and recovery service calls as needed.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III in automotive.
• Certificate IV in automotive.
• Diploma of Automotive technology. 
• At least one (1) year of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic.
• Valid Australian drivers license.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability.
