Task & responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and heavy vehicles
  • Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on trucks, prime movers, and trailers
  • Inspect vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension systems
  • Conduct engine tune-ups, oil changes, filter replacements, and preventative maintenance
  • Test and repair fuel injection systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues
  • Dismantle, repair and reassemble engine components and mechanical assemblies
  • Ensure vehicles comply with roadworthiness, safety, and transport regulations
  • Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and repair documentation
  • Identify potential mechanical issues and recommend preventive maintenance solutions
  • Collaborate with fleet managers and drivers to ensure vehicles remain operational and safe

Qualification & experience

  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 1  years of relevant experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic
  • Experience working with heavy transport vehicles, trucks, and diesel engines
  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance systems and workshop safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair documentation
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards
