Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia,KML is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmaker

The opportunity

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join the team on site working on an 8:6 roster. You will be required to work as part of a team to meet operational maintenance requirements in line with KML and other industry standards for safety and quality.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• Relevant trade qualifications.
• WA C or HR Class Drivers Licence.
• Demonstrated post trade experience in the resource sector.
• Understanding of generic process plant policies and procedures.
• Knowledge and experience with maintenance management systems.
• Ability to work on a rotating roster which may require occasional night shift.

Key Duties:

• Demonstrate personal leadership by meeting all KML safety policy and procedure requirements.
• Execute assigned work tasks in SAP including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
• Perform all work to the specification and quality advised by equipment manufacturers.
• Identify, implement and communicate improvement opportunities in all work areas of work.
• Ensure daily workloads are prioritised and planned to meet daily deadlines for the turnaround of results.
• Conduct risk assessments prior to completing all maintenance tasks ensuring all hazards and risks are identified, mitigated where possible. Ensure all the correct safety documentation is completed. I.e. Take 5, JHA’s, relative permit.
• Inspect, tag and report all out of service tooling or equipment requiring repair.
• Communicate and escalate downtime of equipment to your supervisor immediately as per the Downtime Escalation Process.
• Ability to work autonomously and cohesively as part of a cross functional team.
• Strong time management, organisational and interpersonal skills.

About Karara Mining

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
