We are hiring an Electronic Equipment Trades Worker to join BSS – Bus Services & Solutions. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic systems in buses, motorhomes, and trucks, including audio-visual systems, communication devices, CCTV systems, destination panels, breathalysers, driver fatigue system, lane departure system, proximity sensor, electrical mining systems as beacon lights, fleet and uhf radios, tyre pressure monitoring system, batteries isolators and jump start system, driving lights, telemetry systems, wheelchair lift and other electronic equipment. The company supports planning and installing systems to ensure safety and high-quality functionality.

Task & responsibilities

Duties:

  • Install electronic systems, devices, and components in vehicles, including radios, lighting control panels, cameras, breathalysers, and communication systems as described above.
  • Plan and install cabling, wiring, and connectors to ensure proper integration of electronic equipment.
  • Test installations to verify correct operation and compliance with safety standards and technical specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing of electronic systems in vehicles.
  • Diagnose faults using diagnostic tools, schematics, and software.
  • Repair or replace faulty components, circuit boards, or wiring.
  • Calibrate and test systems after repairs to confirm full functionality.
  • Modify, adapt, or upgrade existing electronic systems to meet customer or regulatory requirements.
  • Install new features or integrate additional equipment into existing systems.
  • Provide expert advice and support to clients regarding operation and maintenance of electronic systems.
  • Respond to technical issues, troubleshoot faults, and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work, including installation details, service reports, and repair logs.
  • Ensure all work complies with workplace health and safety standards, Australian electrical standards, and manufacturer guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all electronic systems are installed, maintained, and repaired according to technical specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople and team members to complete projects efficiently
  • Continuously update technical knowledge to keep pace with advancements in vehicle and electronic systems.
  • Provide high-quality customer service by delivering safe and reliable electronic solutions.


Qualification & experience

  • Certificate III in Electronics and Communications (UEE30920) or equivalent.
  • At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
  •  Proficient in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting electronic systems including cameras and breathalysers.
  • Strong understanding of electronic circuits, cabling, and vehicle-specific components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and attention to detail.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in electronic equipment trade.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle electronic systems in buses, motorhomes, or trucks.
