The Opportunity

Argus Automotive & Marine is seeking an experienced and motivated Motor Mechanic to become part of our growing workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified mechanic who enjoys diagnosing complex mechanical issues, delivering high-quality repairs and working within a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess vehicle performance concerns and accurately determine the cause of mechanical or electrical faults using advanced diagnostic equipment. 
  • Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance and manufacturer scheduled servicing across a variety of vehicle makes and models. 
  • Repair, rebuild and replace engines, transmissions, steering assemblies, suspension systems and other critical mechanical components. 
  • Inspect vehicle systems to identify worn or damaged parts and perform repairs to restore safe and efficient operation. 
  • Service and repair braking, cooling, fuel, ignition and exhaust systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications. 
  • Conduct engine tuning, component adjustments and system calibrations to optimise vehicle performance and reliability. 
  • Perform post-repair inspections and road testing to verify that all repairs meet quality and safety standards. 
  • Maintain accurate job records, service documentation and parts usage to ensure efficient workshop operations. 
  • Ensure workshop tools, machinery and diagnostic equipment are maintained and used safely. 
  • Work closely with other technicians to complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship. 
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop. 
  • Support and assist apprentices or junior mechanics by sharing technical knowledge and best workshop practices where appropriate. 

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent recognised qualification. 
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant work experience as a Motor Mechanic. 
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair a broad range of light vehicles. 
  • Sound knowledge of modern automotive diagnostic systems and repair techniques. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and consistently deliver quality workmanship. 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. 
  • Commitment to workplace safety and delivering exceptional customer service.
