Dandy Exhaust Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and reliable Metal Fabricator / Welder to support its workshop operations in the fabrication, repair, modification and installation of exhaust systems and related metal components. The role requires strong practical welding skills, attention to detail, ability to read measurements and specifications, and experience working in a busy automotive or metal fabrication environment.

Task & responsibilities

The Metal Fabricator / Welder will be responsible for:

• Fabricating, repairing and modifying metal components, exhaust systems, pipes, brackets, mounts and related parts.
• Performing welding work using appropriate welding techniques such as MIG, TIG and/or arc welding.
• Measuring, marking, cutting, bending, grinding and shaping metal materials according to job requirements.
• Reading and interpreting work orders, measurements, drawings and workshop specifications.
• Fitting, aligning and installing fabricated metal parts and exhaust components.
• Inspecting completed work to ensure accuracy, strength, quality and proper finish.
• Operating welding equipment, grinders, cutters, bending tools, hoists and other workshop machinery safely.
• Identifying defects, faults or required repairs in metal components and exhaust systems.
• Following workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
• Maintaining tools, equipment and a clean, organised workshop area.
• Working with mechanics, fabricators and workshop staff to complete jobs efficiently and on time.
• Ensuring all fabrication and welding work meets company quality standards and customer requirements.

Qualification & experience

The successful applicant should have:

• Relevant qualification in Metal Fabrication, Welding, Engineering Fabrication, Automotive Fabrication or a closely related field.
• Minimum 2-3 years’ relevant full-time experience as a Metal Fabricator, Welder, Exhaust Fabricator or similar role.
• Practical experience in welding, cutting, grinding, bending and shaping metal materials.
• Experience in exhaust systems, automotive fabrication or custom metal fabrication will be highly regarded.
• Ability to use welding equipment, hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery safely.
• Ability to read measurements, work orders and basic technical specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team.
• Reliable, punctual and able to manage work within required timeframes.
