About the role

WAMSTEEL PTY LTD is seeking an experienced Fabricator to join our team in Somerton, Victoria. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic organisation in the trades and services sector. As a Fabricator, you will play a crucial role in the production and assembly of steel and metal components, contributing directly to the quality and delivery of our products. This position is based on-site in Somerton and offers the chance to develop your skills in a professional and collaborative environment.

What you'll be doing

• Interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine fabrication requirements and measurements

• Operating and maintaining fabrication equipment including cutting, bending, rolling and forming machinery

• Measuring, marking and cutting metal materials to precise specifications using hand tools and power tools

• Assembling metal components and structures using welding, bolting, riveting or other joining techniques

• Performing quality checks and inspections throughout the fabrication process to ensure products meet required standards

• Preparing materials and work areas to maintain a safe and organised working environment

• Collaborating with other fabricators, welders and team members to complete projects on schedule

• Maintaining accurate records of work completed and materials used

• Adhering to all health and safety regulations and company policies

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Fabricator or in a similar metal fabrication role within the trades sector

• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately

• Proficiency in operating standard fabrication equipment and machinery safely and efficiently

• Sound knowledge of welding techniques and metal joining methods

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing work that meets precise specifications

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team

• Physical capability to perform manual tasks and work in a factory environment

• Current or willingness to obtain relevant trade qualifications or certifications

• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety practices

• Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing work requirements
