Task & responsibilities

Responsibility

You will maintain, repair, and test petrol engines and mechanical systems of lightweight vehicles, ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, and roadworthy.

Duties

•    Use diagnostic tools and equipment to detect mechanical and electrical faults in petrol engines and vehicle components.

•    Dismantle and inspect engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, and other mechanical systems for wear or damage.

•    Repair or replace defective or worn parts in line with service manuals and manufacturer specifications.

•    Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups, to ensure optimal performance.

•    Reassemble engines and systems after repair, test and adjust components to ensure proper operation.

•    Use diagnostic computers and testing equipment to confirm repaired parts and systems function correctly.

•    Conduct vehicle inspections and road tests to ensure compliance with safety and roadworthiness standards.

•    Assist with breakdowns or special service requests as required.

Qualification & experience

Qualifications

•    AQF Certificate IV or at least three years of relevant experience

•    AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training.

•    At least three years of relevant experience.
