FAST TYRES AND AUTOMOTIVE PTY LTD is seeking an experienced and skilled Motor Mechanic (General) to join its team in Ravenhall, VIC, on a full-time basis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in vehicle engines, components and related systems.
• Using computerised diagnostic equipment and testing devices to identify faults and assess vehicle performance.
• Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other mechanical components for inspection and repair.
• Inspecting engine and vehicle components to identify worn, damaged or defective parts.
• Repairing and replacing worn or defective components and reassembling mechanical systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and service manuals.
• Carrying out scheduled maintenance services, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups and general vehicle servicing.
• Servicing, repairing and maintaining petrol engines and associated mechanical components.
• Reassembling engines and mechanical parts following repairs and ensuring all components are correctly fitted.
• Testing and adjusting repaired mechanical components to ensure correct operation and performance.
• Inspecting, servicing and repairing vehicle braking, steering, suspension and transmission systems.
• Conducting post-repair testing and road testing where required to confirm that faults have been rectified and vehicles are operating correctly.
• Identifying work required for vehicles to meet applicable safety and roadworthiness standards.
• Following technical specifications, manufacturer instructions and service manuals when completing repairs and maintenance.
• Maintaining accurate records of servicing, repairs, diagnostic findings and replacement parts.
• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements and established workshop procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant should have:

• AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or a relevant equivalent automotive qualification.
• At least 2 years of relevant practical experience as a Motor Mechanic or in a closely related automotive mechanical role.
• Demonstrated experience in diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in light motor vehicles.
• Sound knowledge of petrol engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and braking systems.
• Experience using computerised automotive diagnostic equipment and testing tools.
• Ability to dismantle, repair, replace and reassemble vehicle mechanical components.
• Strong understanding of scheduled servicing and preventative vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to interpret technical information, workshop manuals and manufacturer specifications.
• Good fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a workshop team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing repairs to a high standard.
• A valid driver's licence is preferred.
