About the role

Xtreme Services Group (XPG Security) is seeking experienced Event Security Managers/Supervisors to join our dynamic team based in Canberra, ACT. We have various positions for this role, including Full-time, part-time and casual, offering flexibility whilst maintaining the critical responsibility of overseeing security operations and personnel. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and security of our clients' facilities, assets and personnel. You will lead security teams, manage daily operations, and implement security protocols that protect against potential threats.

This position is crucial to our business operations and directly contributes to the trust our clients place in us.

You must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in supervising events or working as a 2IC.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead Event Security Officers before, during and after events, ensuring professional conduct and compliance with company and client requirements.

• Coordinate the deployment of security personnel across designated event zones, entry points, VIP areas and restricted access locations.

• Conduct pre-event briefings, toolbox talks and operational debriefs to ensure staff are fully informed of event requirements, security risks and emergency procedures.

• Monitor crowd behaviour and proactively manage crowd movement to maintain a safe and secure environment.

• Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents, emergencies, disturbances and customer complaints, escalating matters where required.

• Liaise with event organisers, venue management, clients, Police, Emergency Services and other stakeholders to ensure smooth event operations.

• Supervise access control, ticket validation, bag inspections, accreditation checks and VIP access in accordance with event procedures.

• Coordinate responses to lost children, missing persons, intoxicated patrons, anti-social behaviour and other public safety incidents.

• Ensure compliance with event security plans, emergency management procedures, Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and relevant legislation.

• Monitor radio communications and maintain effective communication between security personnel, control rooms and event management.

• Prepare accurate incident reports, shift logs, operational updates and post-event reports.

• Conduct regular patrols of the event site to identify safety hazards, security risks and operational issues.

• Provide leadership, mentoring and on-the-job coaching to Event Security Officers to maintain high performance and professionalism.

• Assist in roster coordination, staff deployment and operational adjustments to meet changing event requirements.

• Promote exceptional customer service while maintaining a strong and professional security presence.

• Ensure all security equipment, radios, body-worn cameras and other operational resources are accounted for and functioning correctly.

• Support emergency evacuations, lockdowns and business continuity procedures where required.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to post-event reviews and lessons learned.

Essential Requirements

• Current ACT Security Licence and Crowd Controller endorsement.

• Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.

• Current RSA or ability to obtain one.

• Previous experience supervising security personnel at events.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

• Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
