As a Motor Mechanic, it is essential that you have the passion to carry out mechanical servicing duties in an effective and timely manner. Your primary role is to carry out testing,diagnosing and troubleshooting major faults and overhauling engines of motor vehicles andparts such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes of a wide range of motor vehicle types.

Task & responsibilities

• Mends damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and weldingbroken parts.
• Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.
• Plans work procedure, using charts, technical manuals, and experience.
• Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers,and thickness gauges.
• Removes units, such as engine, transmission, or differential, using wrenches and hoist.
• Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps
• Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories, such as radios,heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
• Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs, or replaces shock absorbers, andsolders leaks in radiator.
• Repairs or replaces parts, such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings,usingmechanic's hand tools.
• Raises vehicle, using hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted tounderside of vehicle.

Qualification & experience

• Mimimum 2 years experience in Automotive Field.
• Must know how to operate diagnostic equipment
• Ability to communicate in spoken and written English.
• Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology.
