The automotive electrician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and installing electrical and electronic systems and components in a range of motor vehicles. The role requires strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.

Key responsibilities include:

• Diagnosing electrical and electronic faults using specialised diagnostic and testing equipment.
• Inspecting, testing and repairing vehicle electrical systems, wiring and electronic components.
• Repairing and replacing faulty ignition systems, wiring harnesses, switches, fuses and other electrical components.
• Testing, repairing and replacing alternators, starter motors, batteries and charging systems.
• Dismantling and removing electrical and electronic assemblies and components.
• Installing electrical equipment, electronic components and vehicle accessories.
• Connecting electrical equipment and accessories to vehicle power supplies.
• Reading and interpreting technical specifications and manufacturer information.
• Conducting testing after repairs and installations to ensure systems are operating correctly.
• Maintaining accurate records and following workplace health and safety requirements.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as an automotive electrician.
• A Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent qualification.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
