The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading and optimising all quality-related processes within Global Colours. This role ensures consistent product quality, effective QA systems, and compliance across manufacturing operations. The position requires strong analytical ability, excellent attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of quality management principles within a manufacturing environment. The Quality Assurance Manager will oversee QA procedures, staff compliance, quality audits, reporting, and continuous improvement across the plant.

Task & responsibilities

Quality Systems & Procedures

  • Develop and refine QA procedures to optimise manufacturing processes and ensure consistent product quality.
  • Update and enhance QA policies, SOPs, and control processes to improve manufacturing and order management compliance.
  • Conduct quality audits, analyse production and defect data, and recommend improvement strategies.

Production Quality Management

  • Control and manage the quality of manufacturing processes, including verifying paint formulas and issuing batch quantities.
  • Monitor raw materials, in-process goods, and finished product quality.
  • Resolve supplier or material-related quality issues and ensure all materials meet required standards.
  • Manage stocktakes and implement inventory strategies using Fishbowl software.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare weekly quality reports and provide insights to management.
  • Review production requirements from a quality perspective, considering cost, time, labour efficiency, and compliance.

Team Leadership & Compliance

  • Oversee staff compliance with QA procedures, attendance, punctuality, and workplace standards.
  • Allocate workloads, schedule inspections, and assign tasks to the QA team.
  • Foster effective communication, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Operational & Safety Oversight

  • Ensure equipment calibration, cleaning routines, pre-start-up checklists, and maintenance meet QA standards.
  • Investigate technical quality issues and manage non-conformance escalations.
  • Enforce occupational health and safety policies to maintain a safe manufacturing environment.


Qualification & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality management, manufacturing, science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality assurance or quality control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory/quality management software such as Fishbowl.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Experience working in paint or paint-related manufacturing is highly desirable.
